Summary

The OTP Bank Liga (HUN1), or Nemzeti Bajnokság I, is the top level of league-style football competition in Hungary. At the end of the 2026-2027 HUN1 season, the HUN1 teams listed below qualify for the following non-league play:

  • 2027-2028 UEFA Champions League - 2nd Qualifying Round:
    • 1st place 2026-2027 HUN1 team
  • 2027-2028 UEFA Europa Conference League - 2nd Qualifying Round:
    • 2nd and 3rd place 2026-2027 HUN1 teams

The winner of the 2026-2027 Magyar Ligakupa (Hungarian Cup), typically a HUN1 team, also receives a berth in the 1st Qualifying Round of the 2027-2028 UEFA Europa League.

Season Format

Each HUN1 team plays each of the other 11 HUN1 teams 3 times for a total of 33 league matches. In the first 22 matches for each team, they are Home-Away. In the last 11 matches, the six teams that had the highest ranking at the end of the 2025-2026 HUN1 season, will have 6 home matches and 5 away matches. The remaining six teams will have 5 home matches and 6 away matches. Table ranking ties are broken by (1) overall wins, (2) goal difference, (3) goals scored, (4) head-to-head points, (5) head-to-head goal difference, (6) Fair-play ranking, then (7) a drawing.

Playoffs

Not applicable.

Relegation

At the end of the 2026-2027 HUN1 season, the 12th place team will be relegated to HUN2, and the 11th place team will enter into a Promotion/Relegation playoff match with the 2nd place HUN2 team.
