Summary
The FIFA Confederations Cup (CONFCUP) was held every 4 years, the year before each Men's World Cup, in the country hosting the next World Cup. The CONFCUP functioned as a means to test the readiness of the host Country. The 2017 CONFCUP was the 10th and final. Tournament participants included each FIFA Confederation Champion, the 2014 World Cup champion, and the host country.
FIFA plans to replace the CONFCUP with the new FIFA Club World Cup in 2021. Currently, top European clubs are planning to boycott the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup.
